2024 Online Scholarship Terms and Conditions 

 

Summary 

To be eligible for the award of one of two $5,000 scholarships or one of ten $1,000 scholarships, students must:

(i) apply and enroll in an online degree program at Eastern Nazarene College full-time for the fall 2024 semester (cohort start dates: 7/8/24 or 9/30/24) (ii) opt-in to the 2024 Online Scholarship on the Request Information form (“Scholarship”) prior to the deadline and (iii) register and post attendance in their first class between 7/8/24- 10/15/24 (“Initial Attendance Window”).

 

Opt-in Deadline 

The Scholarship inquiry form will be made available online on May 13, 2024.  Participants must opt-in for the scholarship on the inquiry form by 11:59pm EDT June 30, 2024 (“Opt-in Deadline”). Opt-in submitted after the Deadline will not be considered. No exceptions. 

 

Eligibility Requirement 

  1. Participants currently residing in the United States must meet one of the following requirements: be a legal resident of the United States; have been granted permanent residency; have a valid visa that does not prohibit educational studies; have been granted temporary protected status along with approved Notice of Action issued by Citizen Immigration Services and verified through CIS Form g-845; or have been granted asylum along with the approved Notice of Action issued by the Citizen Immigration Services.
  2. Participants must meet all admissions requirements of Eastern Nazarene College if selected as a scholarship recipient.
  3. Participants must not be an employee (including full and part-time faculty) or a family member (spouse, dependent child, or domestic partner) of an employee of Eastern Nazarene College or any other affiliate of Eastern Nazarene College.
  4. Participants must apply and be admitted to one of Eastern Nazarene College's online program.
  5. Participants must submit a complete, signed application, together with all supporting documentation by the Application Deadline. The completion of the application form does not create an obligation to award a scholarship to the applicant.
  6. Applicant must post attendance to their first fully online degree course within the Initial Attendance Window.

 

Selection Process 

  1. The recipients of the scholarships will be selected by Eastern Nazarene College.
  2. It is the participants responsibility to submit a complete and signed application along with any required and supporting documentation, which must be received on or before the Application Deadline. Eastern Nazarene College accepts no responsibility for incomplete applications, applications not in proper form, lost applications, or any other submission in exception to the instructions.
  3. Scholarship selection shall be made without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other category protected by federal, state, or local law.
  4. The decision of Eastern Nazarene College is final and not subject to review.
  5. Starting on November 1, 2024, Eastern Nazarene College will begin the selection process for eligible qualified students.
  6. Recipients will be notified no later than November 15, 2024.

 

Scholarship Award Distribution and Timing 

Eastern Nazarene College will determine and notify the recipients of the scholarships upon validation. 

  1. The maximum Scholarship award is $5,000. The Scholarship shall be disbursed as a credit toward the student’s tuition payments for the Spring 2025 semester.
  2. Only the applicants selected as Scholarship recipients will be notified by Eastern Nazarene College.

 

Maintenance Requirements 

  1. Participant must remain in a fully online degree program (all coursework attended must be program applicable courses) through the Spring 2025 semester.
  2. Participant must successfully pass each course attempted in accordance with their program's requirements as outlined in the academic catalog for all courses. Any withdrawals or courses not successfully passed in accordance with the program requirements will terminate the scholarship.

 

Terms and Conditions 

By opting-in for an Eastern Nazarene College scholarship and/or accepting the scholarship award, the applicant and/or recipient agrees to the following terms and conditions. Failure to abide by any of the following terms and conditions shall result in either disqualification of the scholarship award or termination of the scholarship award. 

  1. Upon opting-in by the participant or the award of the scholarship and recipient’s acceptance, Eastern Nazarene College, including its affiliates as well as its agents, and others working for it on its behalf or at its direction and their respective licensees, successors, and assigns, shall have the right to reference and acknowledge recipient’s name; and may use recipient's name, image and likeness, for any purpose relating to the scholarship, including but not limited to, any promotional materials, internal sites, enc.edu, external company sites, press releases and social media.
  2. Scholarship award is a non-cash award to recipient’s Eastern Nazarene College account as outlined on the scholarship application. Scholarship will be disbursed as a credit toward the student’s tuition payments for the Spring 2024 semester. No scholarship funds will be applied to previous classes or currently enrolled classes at the time of scholarship award. No check or other cash monies will be disbursed at any time. No exceptions. Eastern Nazarene College treats this tuition scholarship, in the form of a non-cash award, as non-taxable income. However, the recipient is encouraged to seek independent counsel from a certified tax consultant as recipient is responsible for all other costs, liabilities, and obligations including any applicable taxes from the award of this scholarship as Federal laws may change and laws vary from state to state. Eastern Nazarene College makes no representations with respect to the taxability of this award and Eastern Nazarene College may change its treatment of the scholarship for tax purposes in its sole discretion.
  3. This Scholarship may not be combined with any other Eastern Nazarene College scholarship, offers, promotions, memorandums of understanding or other tuition scholarship(s).
  4. Recipients remain responsible for repayment of all Federal Direct Loans borrowed for your program or any other program you have enrolled in and/or attended are subject to the repayment terms and conditions set forth in the Master Promissory Note (MPN) executed with the U.S. Department of Education.
  5. This Scholarship is not applicable and will not be issued to:
    1. Participants who enroll in a Eastern Nazarene College degree level or program other than what is specifically outlined in the Participant’s Eligibility Criteria for the scholarship. 
    2. Participants pursuing stand-alone Eastern Nazarene College courses. 
    3. Current Eastern Nazarene College Students 
    4. Eastern Nazarene College Alumni 
    5. Participants receiving any employer benefits or discounts 
    6. Participants who do not meet the Eastern Nazarene College eligibility requirements 
    7. Students who enroll and start their first course outside the scholarship window 
    8. Participants who have received another Eastern Nazarene College scholarship award in the past two years 
  6. The Scholarship will automatically terminate if:
    1. Participant fails to meet the eligibility requirements.
    2. Recipient is Academically Disqualified, Disqualified for Admission, Scholastically Disqualified, Scholastically Suspended or Expelled as outlined in the College Catalog. 
  1. Should a recipient drop, receive a W-grade or otherwise fail to complete a course for which the scholarship, or a portion of the scholarship, has been used to pay the tuition, in no event will any cash refund be given at any time.
  2. During the term of the scholarship, recipient shall notify Eastern Nazarene College immediately if he/she is convicted of a crime, excluding traffic offenses. Recipient acknowledges that said conviction may impact this scholarship in Eastern Nazarene College's sole discretion.
  3. Recipient acknowledges and agrees that he/she will not portray Eastern Nazarene College or any affiliates in a negative, harmful, disparaging, offensive or otherwise inappropriate manner as determined in Eastern Nazarene College’s sole discretion. Nor will recipient associate Eastern Nazarene College or any affiliates in any way with content related to tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, or sexually explicit material or engage in conduct that is immoral or illegal that results in a criminal conviction.
  4. Recipient agrees to abide by the Eastern Nazarene College Academic Catalog, including, but not limited to, the Student Code of Conduct.
  5. These terms and conditions are in addition to any other terms and conditions set forth in any other part of this document. Any necessary determination, or clarification, as to the interpretation or to the application of a particular term shall be made by Eastern Nazarene College, in their sole discretion. Furthermore, Eastern Nazarene College reserves the right in its sole discretion to make any changes or modifications to the scholarship, including but not limited to, the criteria, the selection process, the deadline dates, and the terms and conditions.
